ART + Design

Art and design…
They are such exciting and beautiful words in my life. They have given me a lot of thoughtful meaning and good expressions. It was over 25 years ago when I started to get excited about art and design. I used to enjoy water color painting in a natural environment. All the resources such as mountains, rivers, oceans, building… their great colors and forms inspired me to create various arts and I enjoyed it a lot. As a designer, there would be nothing compared to this great honor given to my life. Endless exploration and experimentation. Spending time for them never makes me tired of tribulations in my life. Design as one of the communication method for human beings, it is necessary to study and work for not only helping people, but also making our life better. There are still a lot of opportunities waiting for me to conduct this important work. I am always thankful for the chances and experiences given in my life…

Design Philosophy

Design is too complicated to define its meaning for us, but I believe that design changes culture, cures problems and saves our life. For me design is especially exciting, but always challenging. Spending time on new inventions requires much creative endeavor and I greatly enjoy the process of problem solving. Throughout fifteen (15) years of my professional and educational experiences, I realized that good design does not mean success in all cases. Although design cannot satisfy all expectation, the learning experiences from both failure and success are more important than any other factor. The process is more important than the product.

I always try to find new atmosphere of communication methods. Design should not only be an aesthetic visual form, but also a functional interaction for users, audience and consumers. In order to deal with both matters, I usually consider design fundamentals such as form, space and design principles. These are common essential elements to deal with problem solving of the design. The interaction and communication to people is a vital part of a design purpose. I spend a lot of time in research to analyze the problematic. Questioning and wondering from “what if..” give me various idea and perspectives for concept approaches. A variety of experiments always makes a design strong and powerful. Different cultures, environments and needs are things designers should also consider before we conduct creative work or deal with problem solving. In addition, there are many different design areas we have now. I believe there are no boundaries between the design fields such as graphic, product, multimedia, architecture, etc. Moreover, we apply design into many other different research areas, or integrate with other fields. For this reason, I always try to expand my knowledge and experiences with new methodology and theories.

Designers also need to predict what the future trends will be for the next generation. This is because design leads the direction for everything that develops into our society. Therefore, I strongly urge that designers should know how to combine both formal methods and new technology ideas. The design journey keeps changing and fixing between new and old everyday. With my passion and enthusiasm in my art and design life, I am excited to deal with whatever it comes to me as matter, problem or challenges.
